Today I am going to review Ablaze, a gorgeous Limited Edition Lip Pencil from MAC Tropical Taboo Collection.
My Review :
MAC describes Ablaze as ‘Bright Apricot’ color. I immediately Google-d ‘Bright Apricot Color’ and compared the pictures. They definitely do not match. Ablaze shows up on my lips as bright Coral color with Red undertones. I love this color and for me it works like an amazing base for all Coral lipstick.
The pigmentation of MAC Ablaze lip pencil is excellent and is build-able to achieve more intensity. My concern is the texture of the lip pencil. It is super dry and refuses to give an even application. I literally have to press it hard on my lips for the application. It kinda hurts ! Even then the finish isn’t opaque and looks uneven. To prevent this, I prep my lips with lip balm before starting my makeup and then I blot the excess away. It gives an even and smooth application post this trick.
Ablaze lip pencil provides matte finish and the coverage is medium to buildable. It lasted on me for a very long time (6 hours) and started fading post that. It works amazingly well as a base for any lipstick and also increase the longevity of the lip color. I love to wear it alone with well hydrated lips.
Overall, as much as I dislike texture and application of Ablaze lip pencil, the color makes fall for it again.
