Maybelline The Jewels Color Sensational, Rubylicious – Review & Swatches.
As the name says, Maybelline New York’s The Jewels is inspired by Jewels. It claims to illuminate color only from its deep jewelucent pigments. Creamier feel only from its nourishing honey nectar and a captivating jewel collection in 8 deeply provocative shades. Does it stand up to its high claim or fall down, lets find out.
Maybelline New York’s The Jewels is the new addition in the color sensational range. It comes in 8 stunning shades and all of them are equally pretty. It is the tallest lipstick in my vanity. Yes, I actually did compare it my other lipsticks. 😛 It comes with a reflective pink caps with gives stunning rainbow reflection and has ‘Maybelline New york’ engraved on the silver part. I think the packaging is super cute !
I got the Rubylicious in my last Maybelline Mini Haul and fell in love at first sight. Rubylicious is a gorgeous ruby red shade with blue undertones. It look more of bright pink when applied which I prefer more than the red’s. It has a glossy finish with a hint of sheer. The lipstick is very moisturizing and extremely pigmented. One single swipe is enough to give full coverage. Althought it has a creamy texture, the color feels like a stain to me. I feel it gets absorbed on the lips like second skin. May be that’s why it has long lasting power. It lasted for more than 6 hours on me including meals. Post 6 hours, it didn’t leave on a bad note either, infact it left back that subtle pink shade. SA told me that it can be used in two different ways. You can just dab some on your lips for that natural pink look or use it as a bold bright lipstick. I like it both the ways. I guess it will be my ultimate lipstick for day to night transformation.
Expert Tip
Apply your lipstick by starting in the center of your upper lip. Work from the center to the outer edges of your lip, following the contours of your mouth. Repeat the technique on your lower lip.
Why I liked it ?
- It comes in a very attractive packaging with the rainbow effect. Cute !
- Super pigmented and creamy.
- It is very moisturizing too.
- It doesn’t bleed or settle into fine lines.
- Lasted on me for over 6 hours and left a subtle tint.
- Inexpensive.
- Gives glossy, healthy finish.
Overall, I think is a must bust for people who are willing to try bright bold colors like me. This baby has deifinitely won my heart and gonna be a keeper for me. I am on my way for other shades already. 😛 Have you tried it yet ? Which is your favorite color in this range ?
