Dove Elixir Nourished Shine ‘Hibiscus & Argan Oil’ Hair Oil – Review.

Dove Elixir Nourioshed Shine Oil

My bench partner in school had the most gorgeous hair I have ever seen. I had asked her the hair oil she applies and she answered back saying ‘Magic Oil with Hibiscus’ and all I had was the boring ‘Coconut Oil.’ I remember the same day I rushed home and cried to mum for the Hibiscus oil. She never got it for me but after years, I found my magic oil with by Dove.

Dove Elixir Nourished Shine ‘Hibiscus & Argan Oil’ Hair Oil :

My Review :

I have never been an oil person. My Mum literally used to get it on my hair with a stick beside her. Then, I grew up and she gave up trying. I heard everyone raving about the Dove Elixir Nourished Shine Hair Oil which made me really keen on trying it out. She was shocked when I came back with a bottle of hair oil. 😛

Did you see that classy glass bottle with hibiscus petals at the bottom ? Isn’t it just breathtaking ? I absolutely heart it and have kept it as a decoration on dressing table. 😛 It, however, comes with a pump dispenser which can suck sometimes. Like it gulped a petal few days back and I had a hard time getting the oil out of the bottle. The glass also makes it a bit heavy and not very travel friendly. The fragrance, Holy God, is heavenly.  Me and my sister got the oil on our palms and couldn’t stop smelling it. 😛 It disappears after a while though.

Dove Elixir Nourished Shine Hair Oil is extremely light weight and get absorbed into the scalp quickly. With ingredients such as Argan oil (why are you so expensive?) and hibiscus, this hair oil is sure to do some magic to your tresses in just 30 minutes unlike the conventional overnight oiling. The healing properties of hibiscus and argan oil is supposed to  make your hair soft and nourished and provide luminosity to your hair. Argan oil is known to retains moisture in the hair, treating dryness while making it supple and smooth. It’s not oily like our regular oils and is easier to wash off.

I haven’t noticed any drastic change in my hair texture or shine but I would be happy to trade my regular hair oil with the Dove Elixir Nourished Shine Hair Oil. I personally like to use it as a leave in serum and it does help to tame my frizz.

Overall, I think it’s a great break from regular hair oils. If you run away from oiling your hair like I do, you should give this a try. You’ll want to oil your hair more often. 😉

Why I liked it ?

  • Best hair oil packaging I’ve ever seen.
  • Contains Argan Oil and Hibiscus.
  • Smells heavenly.
  • Light weight.
  • Non sticky.
  • Can be used as leave in serum.
  • In expensive

Why I didn’t like it ?

  • Heavy glass bottle = not travel friendly.
  • Pump dispenser can be a pain.

  1. The entire words in the first para below ‘My review’ is ME!
I got the same variant, it does not do any wonder to my hair but I rather use this than any other stinking oil!!

    • Haha.. Running away from hair oil you little girl. 😛 I agree, its way better than those regular hair oils

  2. This sounds wonderful, I haven’t heard of Dove having this product before. I’m always looking for new hair oils. Your lucky your mother helped oil your hair when you was younger, my hair was a frizzy nightmare when I was at school as I didn’t have any oils, xoxo.

    • Thank you Inez. Its newly launched in India. I am not sure about the availability worldwide. Awwwwwww… I know, I think of it now and it makes me realize it was for my own good. 🙂

  3. I bought a bottle a few months ago! I love the fragrance and the lovely petals at the bottom of the container. I use it very rarely as I don’t believe that Mineral oil (that too, 78%) does anything other than tame frizz and add shine to the hair. I agree that it makes my hair soft, frizz-free, moisturized and shiny but good old coconut oil, almond oil and olive oil will always be in my top list of regular oils. I hate oiling too, but my dry hair drinks oil like a thirsty crow! 😛 I don’t use the Dove elixir on my scalp. Just on my hair to ensure that my hair fibre is moisturized 😀
