Mac Dubonnet Creme Amplified ‘A81’ Lipstick – Review & Swatches.
I am very proud to present you my ‘first’ Mac Lipstick. *Happy Dance* Yes, I had been a Mac virgin until now. 😛
Color plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street! What made M·A·C famous.
- Winner of Allure magazine’s ‘Best of Beauty Reader’s Choice’ award for Best Department Lipstick shade Snob, 2012.
- AMPLIFIED CREME (A): Ultra-creamy. Quietly shiny. Color-packed! Hi-res: hi-impact.
I read somewhere that Mac’s Dubonnet has been part of the MAC lineup probably since the company began. I decided to play safe and got my lipstick in this range.
Everyone has their favorite lipsticks’s in different shades and this is definitely my favorite lipstick in Red. Mac’s Dubonnet Amplified is a gorgeous red color with brown undertones. It will flatter almost all skin tones especially, warm skin tones. It can also be carried out during the day as its not a very bold orange-y color but reddish brown which looks very sophisticated. It brightens up my face and gives that glamorous yet sophisticated look.
As the name suggests, it is extremely creamy and a pleasure to apply on your lips. This is the only lipstick I have used by far with such an amazing texture. The pigmentation is also great and gives full coverage in a single swipe. Longevity ? Well, you would be amazed to know that this amazing lipstick lasts for up-to 6 hours and leaved a soft color while going. Oh, BTW, it’s also a must have for fall. 😛
Why You’ll Like It…
- If you love MAC
- If you like creamy lipstick.
- If you like lipsticks that lasts for a long time.

Thank you Preetha. I am glad you liked it. xx
Hi! Yes….MAC is great and so is Dubonnet lipstick! But the A81 is NOT part of the name. It’s the lot number and way of marking when the product was made. Most MAC products have 3 digits on them. The first digit is the batch number; A (1st batch), 8 (month of August) and 1 ( year- 2011) .So your lipstick was made in the first batch of Dubonnet in August of 2011. Because they can only use a 3 digit label, they can’t go past 9 for September. October is A, November is B and December is C. I just got a MAC concealer that was labelled BC2. So that was manufactured as part of the second batch, made in December of last year, 2012.
Hope this clear thinks up! If you are a new MAC fan, you’ll now know if you are buying a new or old product. But I wouldn’t worry….their products move pretty quickly off the shelves… 🙂
