My Review on MAC Prep + Prime BB Beauty Balm SPF 35 :
MAC has extended their Prep + Prime range and added 6 new shades to extend their color spectrum ranges from light to medium to beige, and on to caramel bronze. I am quite happy with the shade extension which also includes some great picks for Indian skin tones. I’ve been using it for over a month now and it’s the time I share my opinion with you guys.
MAC Prep + Prime BB Beauty Balm SPF 35 come in a sleek black tube with a hint of green shimmer on it. The tube is almost the size of my palm which makes it compact & travel friendly. Also, the narrow mouth of the tube lets you control the amount to be dispensed and it is hygienic! The tube is opaque which protects the ingredients but one can’t judge the amount of product left in the tube.
MAC Prep + Prime BB Beauty Balm SPF 35 have a thicker formula compared to other BB creams I’ve tried. Only a dime sized amount is required to cover the entire face. It does have a noticeable SPF odour which is overwhelming for my nose but thankfully it disappears within few minutes of application.
It provides light to medium coverage depending upon the application. I have been through some skin issues (Honeymoon + Sun exposure) recently which left a lot of imperfections & uneven skin tone. MAC Prep + Prime BB Beauty Balm SPF 35 does help to hide minor infections & makes my skin look more even toned. I like to pat it on areas which require more attention and blend it everywhere else. It also works great as a primer, which btw is the main purpose of this BB cream. Even though I prefer using it alone, it works great under a foundation too.
Speaking of application, it blends on quite easily & adapts to my skin without any streaks. Due to the imperfections of my face, I decided to go for a shade darker to even out my skin tone. Medium dark fits perfectly to my skin situation and looks quite natural. There are some people who reckon that MAC Prep + Prime BB Beauty Balm SPF 35 have yellow undertones, but I disagree. I strongly believe that it has pink undertones which apparently works well with my sun tanned skin & makes it look bright. Also, I love how high the SPF is!
For a flawless skin, I usually use MAC Studio Finish concealer to hide stubborn scars & set it with a loose powder or my beloved MAC Studio Fix powder. You definitely need to set it up with a powder to get longer wear time. The finish is dewy which looks natural & healthy. However, it feels a little greasy after few hours which I guess are due to Mumbai humidity plus the high SPF. Without a touch up, it makes my dewy skin looks oily & shiny. After setting, it stays put well for the entire day. It is good for all skin types, although those with oily skin should avoid a moisturizer when using MAC Prep + Prime BB Beauty Balm SPF 35.
[box type=”shadow” ]In a nutshell, MAC Prep + Prime BB Beauty Balm SPF 35 is a multi-tasker ! It works well as a moisturizer, primer, sunscreen with a decent coverage. I’ve found my on-the-go face kit in this solitary tube. [/box]
MAC Prep + Prime BB Beauty Balm SPF 35 comes with a price tag of approx Rs. 2100 | $30 for 40 ml.
