My Gillette #SubscribeToSmooth Challenge – Breaking Myth # 1

Hey Everyone,

It has been a week since I posted about the Gillette Venus Event and announced about my #SubscribeToSmooth challenge where my aim is to cover everything about shaving and also break some myths related to it.

Like I mentioned earlier, I am using razor to remove unwanted hair for a while now but my sister only trust waxing so I thought of making her my guinea pig and asked her to take the challenge too so I can write about it as an experience from some using razor for the first time and break any misconceptions or myths she has about shaving.

I had already covered about the product being use of the razor and it being safe, painless & easy to use in my previous post and has explained everything to her too. Apart from that she had several other queries and one of her major concern was that shaving would make her (dry) skin dry and flaky. So let’s bust that myth, shall we?

Myth Busted: Shaving makes skin Dry & Flaky

No, shaving doesn’t make your skin dry & flaky. It does remove your upper dead skin layer but doesn’t change the condition of your skin. However, if you do put a lot of pressure, you might remove few more layers of the skin than require so please be gentle and put only a bit of pressure to remove your hair. A precision made female razor like Gillette Venus is designed to glide with minimum effort over the skin’s surface. Forcing the razor can end up leaving your skin dry with nicks.

I like the fact that the Gillette Venus has protective cushions that gently glide over skin for a smooth and comfortable hair removal experience. It is also inbuilt with natural ingredients like Aloe and Vitamin E that leave the skin soft and smooth.

Also, I always prefer to shave after a hot shower when my pores are open and hair is smooth. Gillette Venus has a contoured non-slip handle which is designed to fit perfectly in a woman’s hand thereby providing great control even in the shower. Make sure to using a shaving cream or a hair conditioner while shaving and apply a good moisturizer post it close the pores and keep your skin hydrated. 🙂

Was my sister convinced? Yes, in fact according to her skin feels smooth as the dead cell layer is removed and she would continue to use it to complete her #SubscribeToSmooth challenge and hopefully post that too. 🙂

If you have any queries, myths or concerns regarding shaving, don’t hesitate to let us know in the comments below! We shall try to answer the same in our next post. Stay tuned!
